When you hire a real estate agent, you want to make sure they’re not just a great agent, but the right agent for your specific home sale or search.
And the best way you do that is by asking the right questions.
So what, exactly, are those questions? A recent article from realtor.com outlined key questions you’ll want to ask when interviewing real estate agents to ensure you hire the best agent, including:
- What services do you offer? The process of selling a home is very different from the process of buying a home. And while there are many agents that offer both services, some specialize in representing buyers or sellers, or strictly represent one or the other — so make sure to ask about their services up front.
- What experience do you have in my area? Ideally, you want to work with an agent that has experience — and success — in the area where you want to buy or sell. Before you agree to work with an agent, make sure to ask about their success rates helping buyers and/or sellers in your target area.
- What is your fee? There are no laws or regulations dictating that real estate agent fees are a specific percentage, so make sure to ask your agent what their commission rate is, and any other fees they might charge (for example, a marketing fee or MLS fee) before you engage them to help with your home sale or search.
