Summer is in full swing, and so are the scorching hot temperatures that go along with it.
As the temperature rises, it’s important to keep cool. And if your home doesn’t have central air, there’s a good chance you’ll purchase a separate air conditioning unit.
But what unit is the right fit for you and your home? A recent article from realtor.com outlined the different types of air conditioners homeowners can buy to help cool their homes this summer, including:
- Window units. Window units are a great choice to cool down specific rooms, like a bedroom. Not only are they efficient, but they don’t take up the same floor space as portable units, making them an ideal choice for smaller homes.
- Portable units. If you want flexibility with your AC, a portable unit is likely your best bet, because these units are easily moved from room to room. Plus, portable units are generally more powerful than window units, so if you’re looking for a unit that can cool a larger space, this could be a good choice. (Just keep in mind that you’ll need some floor space to place your unit.)
- Heat pumps. Also known as mini-splits, heat pumps have been gaining popularity in recent years, particularly because they have the ability to both cool and heat your home. They’re not the cheapest option available, but they’re certainly cheaper than central air. So if you’re looking for a heating and cooling solution, this could be an investment worth considering.
