The summer is in full swing, and while summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, with rising temperatures across the US, chances are you’ll also want to enjoy some shade.
And a great solution to create shade in your backyard? Adding a pergola.
Pergolas are both affordable and easy-to-assemble. They can also be used in a variety of ways, which allows you to create shade in the backyard spaces you enjoy the most.
So what, exactly, are those ways?
A recent article from realtor.com outline ways to use a pergola to create shaded areas in your backyard this summer, including:
- Dining room. Dining al fresco is one of the joys of summer. But no one wants to eat with the sun beating down on them, which is why pergolas are a great choice for outdoor dining spaces. Center a table and chairs underneath the pergola, then decorate with hanging vines for a bit of ambiance.
- Outdoor living room. If you spend a lot of time just hanging out in your backyard, you might consider using a pergola to shade your living space. Install your pergola and then put a couch or two and a small table underneath. And if you want an easy transition from day to night, string lights through the top of the pergola.
- Covered deck. Adding a pergola right next to your home on top of your patio allows you to easily (and affordably!) replicate the look and feel of a covered deck.
